Arrow General Discussions, Questions and Comments

Here's where you guys can post any general questions and comments or bring up any concerns you have about the league.

The league can get pretty competitive so please keep the trash talk to a minimum. (NOTE: Trash talk is still okay, as long as it is in a joking manner)

Any major issues should be brought to me or Gord though a PM or in person at XT.

Would we be allowed to have the in game music turned off? Communication is difficult with it on.

Post Adapt to your environment

It really is up to both teams to decide whether they want the music on or off. If so, to make it fair, all teams will have to play that specific scenario with the music off. We can also play the music at a lower volume if need be.

The reason we would prefer to have the music on during most scenarios is that it helps to build different ways of communication in a stressful and distracting environment. In most CQB situations, it is impossible to control how the surrounding environment will affect your team's communication, so it's necessary for you and your team to adapt to the given situation.

As you guys go through the training, you will learn to communicate with your teammates without having to fully rely on either radio headsets and direct verbal talking. After your team is able to communicate in a distracting and stressful environment, when placed in a quiet and controlled situation, you'll be able to execute your objective with efficiency and stealth.

Training and playing in the hardest situations will make you guys better players in normal to easy situations.

Ranz makes a point. and even where you are playing a pick up game, most of the time, you ignore the music and you can still communicate with your voices w/o the opposing team hearing you.

Well regardless of your reasons, the members of my team all agree that cheesy call of duty music can sometimes take away the realism and fun from the game. We will request the music be turned off and will still be happy to play regardless of the outcome.

Ross,

A main reason why we have the music on during a game is to drown out the overall noise in the environment. Since our rooms don't have doors and the ceilings of the rooms are completely open, sound travels easily from one room to the next. You can easily hear someones foot step, stepping on a bb or simple whispers from two rooms away.

From our years of running games and training courses for the Military, Police, Counter Terrorism units and other Law enforcement agencies. MOST of them will have some form of music/ ambient noise playing in the background to drown out the silence. So when professionals think that having some sort of background noise/music is a good idea.....we aren't really fit to say otherwise.

And 9 out of 10 games that "request" for a "no music game". Plays for about 5-10 minutes and comes back asking for the music to be turned back on.

From what we noticed with games with music off and games with "slow music/tracks", the activity level and the overall speed the game slows down to a minimal. Because you can easily be heard (and the slower beat subconsciously slows down a players movement). Knowing how fast pace league games are. I can see this to be a bit of a problem.

As Ranz said, "it is up to both teams to decide". Just because you and your team agrees on it. You will still need your opponents to agree as well. And due to having "balance" in the league. Once the teams decide, both 20 minute games are to follow the same decision. You are NOT able to have the music turned back on if you decide it wasn't a good decision after the fact.

If the Call Of Duty sound track is not to your liking. You can always bring in your own sound track as long as no one finds it offensive. Most players come here for the game and the experience. Not to listen to music. For most that's just background noise.

What if we meet this half way and request the music be turned down a little? Would that be more appropriate?

Default Training Reminder

Just a reminder to all players,

You will need to bring your own BBs and gas for training sessions and please have all your mags filled before you get to XT.

Most training sessions do not require any live firing but you will need BBs for the target recognition course.
